Ardoin, whom the Orioles acquired off waivers from the Rockies, arrived 30 minutes before the first pitch on Wednesday and delivered an RBI hit in the 10th after starter Ramon Hernandez got hurt. "This is a guy we liked," Orioles vice president Jim Duquette said, according to the Baltimore Sun. "We had good reports on him the last two years and we've been looking to try to upgrade from the catching standpoint."

2009

The owner of a career .202 average coming into 2008, Ardoin hit .235 in 51 at-bats as the caddy for iron man Russell Martin. It seems likely the Dodgers will look for a more established No. 2 catcher this winter as they try and preserve Martin's legs. Ardoin will be lucky to get a minor league contract for 2009.

2006

Ardoin is an 11-year veteran who finally got his chance at the big league level in 2005. He hit poorly but was invaluable behind the plate and threw out 22 of 45 base stealers. With Yorvit Torrealba in town now, Ardoin figures to take a back-up role.

2005

Ardoin's solid .308/.422/.473 season at Triple-A Oklahoma City in 2004 falls way outside his career norms. He has kicked around the minor leagues for several years now, and 2005 will be no different.

2003

Minor-league vet with no role in the majors.
