2004
Moss came over in the Sidney Ponson deal from the Giants and was unimpressive in a handful of late season starts. The club felt he was out of shape and may not tender him a contract. He's 27 now, so his prospect days are by him. Of greater concern is Moss' control, as he walked more guys than he struck out in 2003, seeing both his walk rate rise and his strikeout rate decline.
2003
Moss stepped into the starting rotation when Albie Lopez got hurt and never looked back. He fits the Tom Glavine mode as a lefthander who doesn't give into hitters even when behind in the count. As a result, he has high-walk, low-hit and low home run totals. Of course it remains to be seen if he'll be as consistent as Glavine so the high walk totals remain a worry, but he looks to be a solid starter for next season.
