RotoWire's Preseason Outlooks
There was no outlook written for David Coggin.
Coggin attempted to come back from shoulder surgery performed in September 2002, but only had a handful of appearances (three games each at Triple-A Scranton and high Single-A Clearwater) in the Phillies' minor league system. It appears that Coggin's shot with the Phillies might have passed after being one of the bright pitching prospects a couple of years ago.
Coggin had arthroscopic shoulder surgery in September and won't start pitching until January 2003. Pitched as a starter and reliever, exhibiting much better numbers in relief (.194 opponent avg., 2.74 ERA). He walked 51 batters in 77 innings.
