Taylor represents an interesting test of new Reds GM Dan O'Brien - if he and manager Dave Miley continue to waste a roster space on him, it will signal that not much has changed from the previous regime. Taylor has little to no power, a poor batting eye and is coming off of a torn labrum.
2003
Taylor was sent to the Instructional League to work on his bunting. His speed has long deluded managers into thinking he's leadoff material. His on-base percentage tells another story – .291 last season. Even when he reached base, the results weren't what you'd expect out of someone with Taylor's speed – he stole 11 bases but was caught eight times.
