Chen spent his second straight season at Triple-A Las Vegas in 2004. He made a few cameo appearances in the majors but nothing of note. He has power potential and would make a solid fourth outfielder if it weren't for the fact that he's a terrible fielder. He needs a trade to an AL club where he could DH.

The bloom is off the prospect rose for Chen. He did hit 26 home runs in 2003 but struck out nearly once per game (106 K's in 133 games). The Dodgers no longer consider him the heir-apparent at first base.

Sultry numbers from Las Vegas (.284/.352/.503) disguise that fact that the desert is a hitter's paradise. Chen's plate discipline took a step back in 2001, and Fred McGriff's signing blocks his chances of starting with the Dodgers. Expect an adjustment period.
