2005
Stone, a Cincinnati native, will try to win a spot in the Reds bullpen out of spring training. He's a bad bet to ever fit into the closing picture.
2004
Stone has gained manager Jimy Williams' trust to be the bridge between the Astros' starters and the combo of Brad Lidge and Octavio Dotel. Stone wore down a little over the second half, prompting the Astros to trade for Dan Miceli with the aim of lessening Stone's workload.
2003
Stone is another minor league journeyman that the Astros gave a chance to and received decent returns. His primary job is to deliver the ball to Octavio Dotel and Billy Wagner with the game still in hand, something he did reasonably well in 2002. He needs to improve his control before he has much value in roto leagues, even in deep NL-only leagues.
