2013

There was no outlook written for Edwards Guzman.

2004

After a quasi-hot start at third base, Guzman hit only .182 (12-for-66) for the Expos after July 4. Still looking for a third baseman, the Rays signed him to a minor-league contract. If he makes the big club, we'd be shocked.

2003

Guzman hit .243 in 61 games for the Giants in 2001, but Yorvit Torrealba beat him out for the backup catcher job last spring, and he spent the whole year in Triple-A Fresno, going .297-5-55 in 112 games (just 16 walks, OPS of just .716). It was Trey Lunsford, and not Guzman, who got a cup-of-cofee callup in September, so we should assume that Guzman is now no better that than number four on the Giants' depth chart at catcher behind Benito Santiago, Torrealba, and Lunsford. We'd expect Guzman to provide nothing more than org depth at Triple-A in 2003.
