2007
Santos sported a .321 batting average in 2006 but unfortunately he's a pitcher and that was what opponents hit against him. For a fifth starter, he had his moments of competence. Overall, however, his 5-9 mark with a 5.70 ERA and a 1.66 WHIP led the Pirates to say their goodbyes to Santos in the offseason. He's likely to latch onto another team as an innings-eater but the 30-year-old rightly offers little in the way of fantasy value.
2006
Santos, claimed by the Pirates in the Rule 5 draft, is expected to compete for the team's fifth starter spot with Josh Fogg and Ian Snell.
2005
Santos was one of the pleasant surprises last year until a late season swoon balooned his ERA to 4.97. The success that he had before August means that he will get another chance at the starting rotation this spring, but he should come with a buyer beware tag. Santos was 3-9 with a 5.97 ERA after the All-Star break.
2003
Control problems limit his fantasy potential.
