After being a late-season call-up in 2002, Childers started 2003 in Double-A and was eventually called up to Triple-A. He did well, posting a 2.44 ERA in 92 2/3 IP. He has done some closing in the minors so he may get a chance to do that in Milwaukee but it's more likely he'll pitch in middle relief, if he makes the team out of spring training.
