2005
Ishii continued to struggle with his control in 2004, posting a K/BB ratio of nearly 1/1 —- by far his worst since coming to the majors from Japan. Even if he keeps a spot in the rotation, his terrible WHIP makes him a bad option for most fantasy leagues.
2004
Ishii again followed a decent first half with a very shaky second half. He missed August with a knee injury but the biggest concern was his 1.81 WHIP in the second half, driven by a massive walk-rate. If you do draft him make sure to deal him before the All-Star break.
2003
Ishii experienced a strong first half but a sharp drop in production after the All-Star break before a line drive fractured his nasal passage and ended his season in early September. Ishii's control problems (5.75 BB/9 pre-All-Star break) got worse after the break (7.1 BB/9). His 14 Wins on the year were a result of strong run support during his starts. Expect a decline in production until Ishii learns to harness that awesome curve.
