2013
There was no outlook written for Scott Thorman.
2008
Thorman's role with the Braves has been reduced to a pinch hitter and backup first baseman after the trade for Mark Teixeira. He was given the everyday first base job at the start of last season, but failed to hit enough to hold the job, especially struggling against lefties (just a .448 OPS). He could be productive as the left-handed part of a platoon, but he won't have much fantasy value if he remains with the Braves.
2007
Thorman, the 30th overall pick in the 2000 draft, had a strong season at Triple-A and got his first taste of the majors. While he struggled with the Braves, he hit 15 home runs in a partial season at Triple-A. He'll try to win a reserve infield job with the Braves this spring and could be a factor in left field as well. He's a nice sleeper as a result.
2006
Thorman, the 30th overall pick in the 2000 draft, saw his stock rise rapidly in the Atlanta organization last season after struggling the last two seasons. He hit 21 home runs between Double-A and Triple-A, improved his defense at first base and also got some work at third base. He'll start out the season at Triple-A, but with oft-injured Chipper Jones at third base and Adam LaRoche struggling against left-handed pitching, he could get playing time if injuries strike and could even win a share of the platoon job at first base. He's one to stash on a minor league reserve roster as a result.
2003
Thorman was a consistent offensive force last season after missing all of 2001 due to shoulder surgery, which necessitated a move across the diamond from third base. The Braves have a gaping hole at first in the majors, but might need to only find a two-year stopgap if Thorman continues to develop at this rate.
