RotoWire's Preseason Outlooks

2013

There was no outlook written for Brad Nelson.

2009

Nelson hit .286/.380/.480 in 132 games for Triple-A Nashville in 2008 and finished up with a September callup to Milwaukee. At 26, Nelson has spent parts of the last four seasons at Triple-A and may never get over that hump. He's limited to first base defensively and probably can't hit well enough to play there in the majors. He may get a look as a left-handed pinch-hitter for a major league team, but probably not much more than that.

2008

Nelson hit .267 with 20 home runs in 116 games for Triple-A Nashville in 2007. It was probably his best season since he was named Minor League Player of the Year for Milwaukee in 2002. Nelson is still just 24 years old and has some power, but time is running out and it's unlikely that he'll ever get significant time in the majors.

2006

After starting the year at Triple-A, Nelson slumped his way to a demotion. He bounced back to hit .296 with six HR at Double-A, but needs to boost the power numbers and continue to improve his plate discipline. At 23, he has a ton of power potential and will try again at Triple-A in 2006.

2005

Nelson made a nice comeback from an injury plagued 2003 to hit 19 HR and 31 doubles for Double-A Huntsville in 2004. On the downside, he only hit .250 and 145/48 K/BB ratio. He'll only be 22 next season and has a ton of power potential that the Brewers hope will continue to develop. He also made the move from first base to outfield in 2004, making room for Prince Fielder at first. Nelson will most likely start the season at Double-A with a possible late season move to Triple-A. He's a top prospect because of his power potential, but don't expect him in Milwaukee anytime before 2006.

2004

Nelson was the Brewers' 2002 Minor League Batter of the Year but broke the hamate bone in his wrist early in 2003. He missed half of the season and never fully recovered. The Brewers are still hoping he can regain some of the power he lost due to the injury and he should start out at Double-A in 2004. If all goes well then look for him to contribute in 2005.

2003
