2005

Phelps got pressed into service in the rotation but couldn't hold up, eventually having elbow surgery to remove bone spurs. He could fit in as a long man, but his window of opportunity is closing rapidly with the next wave of Marlins pitching prospects set to hit Double-A.

2004

Phelps, a minor league journeyman type, was entirely decent in his rookie year, and seems to have a future as a lefty-killing specialist. Anything more would be gravy.
