2013
There was no outlook written for Elizardo Ramirez.
2008
Ramirez hasn't really fully recovered from the shoulder injury that ended his 2006 season. Sure, he was pitching over the second half of the 2007 season, but not quite with his pre-injury capacity. 2008 is a critical year for him.
2007
Ramirez was better than his final numbers suggest. He gave up 17 earned runs in eight innings over his last four appearances before going on the DL with a shoulder problem. Before that final stretch, he had an ERA in the low 4.20s and demonstrated he could pitch a little. If healthy, he should get a pretty fair shot at the fifth starter's job to begin the season.
2006
Thrust into a few spot starts for the Reds before he was ready, Ramirez was predictably hit hard. The issue remains the same for Ramirez - he lacks the ability to dominate upper minor league hitters, let alone major leaguers.
2005
Ramirez was part of the swag from the Phillies in the Cory Lidle trade along with Javon Moran and Joe Wilson. Ramirez doesn't have dominating stuff, a problem that surfaced in his outings with Double-A Reading before getting traded. He projects as no better than a fourth or fifth starter.
2004
Ramirez had a good season with high Single-A Clearwater, going 13-9, with a 3.78 ERA along with a 101:33 K:BB ratio. He was added to the 40-man roster in November and is one of the top 10 prospects for the Phils.
