2007
Astacio spent most of the season at Triple-A Round Rock after posting an 11.12 ERA in four appearances -- two starts -- with the big league club. He went 8-4 with a 4.86 ERA in 21 appearances, including 17 starts, with the Express. He cut down on his homers a bit, allowing 15 in 92.2 innings, and walked 43 batters. He has a chance to be a middle reliever with the Astros this season.
2006
Forget his status as World Series goat; Astacio is capable of giving the Astros league-average innings right now. He needs to work on command in the strike zone: allowing more homers than walks is indicative of a problem. He could win a dozen games without hurting your ratios.
2005
Astacio came over to the Astros in the trade that shipped Billy Wagner to the Phillies in Nov. 2003. Already 25 years of age, Astacio has but a few years left to move up in the Astros' system and prove that he's capable of pitching at the major league level.
2004
After posting a decent season at high Single-A Clearwater, Astacio was part of the haul from the Billy Wagner deal. He gained 3-5 mph on his fastball in 2003 as his body filled out, but still maintained a fairly non-descript strikeout rate. As a 24-year old, he's going to need to speed up his development to heighten his prospect status.
