2013
There was no outlook written for Scott Dohmann.
2008
The high WHIP rate indicates Dohmann's relatively low ERA was extremely lucky, and indeed, slightly more than one out of every three batters Dohmann faced (47 of 136) reached base. He'll be penciled in as a member of the Rays' set-up crew to start the spring, but the team does not see him as a closer-in-waiting. Given his peripherals, Dohmann is as likely to post an ERA in the fives as he is to come in at 3.31 again in 2008; there are other options with better upside.
2007
Dohmann has spurts of respectability, including one in April 2006, when he had a 3.00 ERA and picked up a save for Kansas City. But he often regresses to below league average, and now touts major league career marks of 4-8 with a 5.74 ERA and a 1.63 WHIP. He'll need to be more consistent to get back to the majors after the Royals designated him for assignment in December.
2006
Dohmann started 2005 in the Colorado bullpen but needed a demotion to Triple-A to regain his confidence and consistency. The move worked wonders and Dohmann was a different man in the second half. In 24.1 innings he struck out 29 batters and posted a 2.59 ERA with a .173 BAA. He'll be one of the Rockies' primary set-up men in 2006.
2005
Dohmann had a productive 2004 in the late innings out of Colorado's bullpen, and he'll again be a set-up man in 2005. He keeps the walks down and has shown the ability to get a key strikeout, even compiling a 4.30 ERA with 29 strikeouts in 29.3 IP at Coors Field.
2004
Dohmann gives up an alarming number of home runs to opposing hitters and was moved from the starting rotation to the bullpen following the 2002 season. Despite the propensity to give up the long ball, he's shown the ability to keep runners off the basepaths on a consistent basis. If the former sixth-rounder can somehow eliminate the homers, he could settle in to be a quality reliever for the Rockies.
