2024 Projections
Capellan will pitch out of the rotation at Triple-A Round Rock, the Astros' official site reports.
ANALYSIS
He narrowly lost the No. 5 starter's spot to Russ Ortiz, but we wouldn't be surprised to see Capellan in the big leagues -- even in the Houston rotation -- at some point down the road.

The Tigers picked up Capellan in a deal with the Brewers in the middle of last season and he was traded to Colorado last fall. He spent a little time in the Detroit bullpen, but command problems and inconsistency with his slider earned him a ticket back to Triple-A. Given that Capellan has a hard time keeping the ball in the yard, pitching half of his games at Coors Field doesn't seem like a great fit. He'll compete for a bullpen job with Colorado this spring. Improved control is going to be necessary if Capellan hopes to stick in the majors.
