Hughes made a strong impression with an .834 OPS in spring training with six home runs and was quickly called up to work in a utility role. He doesn't have a strong glove, but has decent power with seven home runs in just 317 at-bats. While he does draw some walks, his poor contact rate likely makes him a batting average risk if he gets extended playing time. He'll try to win a utility role this spring.

2010

Hughes has some power, but has faded out of Minnesota's long-term plans in the infield as he was demoted to Double-A after Danny Valencia was promoted to Triple-A. He was also moved to third base from second base which limits his fantasy value.
