2009
Jimenez has had a nice walk rate with Triple-A Memphis the last two years, which has helped keep his minor league ERA down, but he was awful when the Cardinals gave him a chance at the big league level. The Cardinals were right to cut bait, but evidently, the White Sox see something in him.
2008
Jimenez, a non-roster invitee last spring, had a disappointing 2007 campaign. After being sent down in July with a bloated 10.41 ERA, Jimenez righted the ship when he was recalled in September, with two wins and a 3.14 ERA in 11 appearances, so there is hope that he can contribute in 2008. Jimenez has been a bit hittable throughout his minor league career, so he's more likely to be a garbage time reliever for St. Louis than one that is trusted in important situations.
