2013

2010

Another year brought another injury for the perennially banged-up Garcia, who started just five games at Double-A before requiring surgery to remove a bone spur from his elbow. When he is healthy, however, he has demonstrated considerable upside. Relying primarily on a low-90s fastball, an outstanding curve and an improving changeup; he posted 98 strikeouts in 87.2 innings across Single-A and Double-A. Garcia will likely begin the 2010 season at Double-A and needs to prove that he can make more than a few starts in a row without succumbing to injury.

2009

The oft-injured Garcia spent most of 2008 at High-A Tampa in the rotation, where he had an impressive 60:17 K:BB ratio in 49.2 innings along with a 4-2 record over 10 starts. He has struggled with injuries throughout his career, but he's a definite sleeper to watch with a fastball that touches 95 mph and tough 12-to-6 curveball in his arsenal. He'll still just be 23 years old for most of the 2009 season and is likely to start at Double-A, so don't write him off if he's able to shake the injury bug.
