2013
There was no outlook written for Marcos Carvajal.
2008
The Mets tried to convert Carvajal into a starter at Double-A, but his control remained a problem and he was claimed off waivers by the Marlins in September. He still has a plus fastball and sinker, which could eventually make him an effective major league reliever, but that day seems no closer than it was when he was a Rule 5 pick in 2005.
2007
Carvajal has maintained a 9.00+ K/9 throughout his pro career, even in his year in the bigs as a Rule 5 player in 2005, so he's got stuff. However, his walk rate keeps rising—control is still an issue. He could go to Triple-A in 2007, but he's at least one year away from returning to the bigs.
2006
Carvajal somehow pitched much better at home (3.78 ERA) than on the road (7.32) in his rookie campaign as a Rule 5 pick. He moved to Seattle in the Yorvit Torrealba deal and could pitch some quality innings there.
