RotoWire's Preseason Outlooks

2013

There was no outlook written for Anthony Vasquez.

2012

A 2009 18th-round pick, Vasquez was originally drafted in 2005 as an outfielder by the Angels. A 3.21 ERA at Triple-A Tacoma last season earned him a ticket to the big leagues where he made seven starts for the Mariners. The resulting 8.90 ERA shouldn't have been too surprising. Never considered a true prospect, Vasquez, who had as many home runs allowed as strikeouts last year (13), does not have the stuff to be a major league starter. His fastball sits between 83-87 mph and his offspeed pitches (curveball and change-up) are not plus pitches. Expect him to spend the season at Tacoma unless the Mariners get desperate again.
