RotoWire's Preseason Outlooks

2014

There was no outlook written for Travis Denker.

2009

The Giants rushed Denker to the majors last year, and although he held his own with an .820 OPS over 37 at-bats, he ended up spending most of the season at Triple-A Fresno, where he hit .282/.373/.468. He projects best as a utility man, and hes now a Padre after San Diego claimed him off waivers during the offseason.

2008

The Giants acquired Denker in a deal with the Dodgers involving Mark Sweeney last year. The 22-year-old isn't a very good defensive second baseman but led all High-A California League batters in postseason OPS (1.655), OBP (.560), and batting average (.524), going 11-for-21 with three doubles and three home runs. With the Giants at the bottom of the NL West heading into 2008, Denker could find himself in the big leagues sooner than if he were with another organization.

2006

Denker's offensive numbers for Columbus in the Low-A Sally League were tremendous, but there's a number of underlying questions about his defense and whether he'll remain at second base. If he proves he can handle the position, he's a legit prospect. If he has to move to the outfield, his value to the Dodgers diminishes.
