2009
The Reds sent Coutlangus to Arizona in April, but he never managed to get the call from Triple-A Tucson where he was limited to just 5.2 innings in 2008. His long-term ceiling in the majors is lefty specialist, so don't expect much given how little he'll help your rate stats.
2008
Coutlangus took one shot at filling the Reds' eighth-inning void last year and served up a grand slam to Felipe Lopez. After that, he was promptly relegated back to his usual lefty specialist role, which is where he'll be again in 2008.
2007
Coutlangus was a roster claim from the Giants last spring and spent most of the year in the bullpen for Double-A Chattanooga, where he posted a superficially low ERA. If he's lucky, he'll be a LOOGY (Lefty One Out Guy) at the major league level someday.
2006
He's 25 and spent last year as a lefty specialist in the California League. A prospect in leagues that restrict you to players with ten-letter last names.
