Rest-of-Season Projections
The A's non-tendered Garcia (elbow) on Wednesday.
ANALYSIS
There's a pretty good chance that Garcia won't be ready to begin the season. He might still sign a minor league deal with the A's eventually.

Past Fantasy Outlooks
2007
2006
The Marlins saw enough in Garcia prior to 2006 to add him to their 40-man roster, and their confidence in him was rewarded. Garcia zoomed through the system in 2006, making stops at every level from High-A on up (including a September cup of coffee in the bigs) and striking people out at every stop. A return to Double-A to start this season seems appropriate, given his relative lack of dominance in Carolina (his batting average against and HR rate both took big jumps up from High-A Jupiter) and youth. Another big first half could see him right back in the majors, however.

Garcia apparently underwent Tommy John surgery earlier in the month, and will be out of action until mid-2008, the South Florida Sun-Sentinel reports.
