2009
If the fine citizens of Toronto have a drinking game about failed catching prospects they've certainly downed enough Molson lately to fill Thunder Bay. Add Thigpen to the list of the guilty. He left his bat somewhere between Double-A New Hampshire and Triple-A Syracuse and hasn't located it since. He'll probably serve as Rob Bajaras' backup unless the Jays bring in another warm body. Drink up!
2008
Thigpen continues to see time behind the plate despite talk early in the season about moving to second base. He saw some time at first base for Toronto, but is expected to remain behind the plate and could serve as the primary backup to Gregg Zaun in 2008. As for his bat, there's not much power here at all to yield some value even as a $1 endgame option.
2007
Thigpen showed a good eye at the plate at Double-A New Hampshire. The power has been slow to come around, and he'll be 24 years old in 2007, so he'll need to hurry. He could carve out a decent career as a backup down the road.
