2013

There was no outlook written for Buck Coats.

2009

Coats hit .286 and swiped 14 bases at Triple-A Syracuse in his first year in the Toronto organization. He's never shown any power in the minors outside of the friendly Pacific Coast League and time is running out for the 27-year-old. His speed might land him a bench role with someone, but there's nothing to squeeze value out of here.

2008

Coats is going to have a hard time finding his way onto the major league roster, let alone the lineup. His .435 slugging percentage with Triple-A Iowa in the Cubs system last year represents his peak, not a baseline, but he'll push to earn a spot with the Blue Jays this spring after being acquired in a trade.

2007

Coats had a cup of coffee with the Cubs last September, but didn't do much in his 18 at-bats. He'll draw an occasional walk and steal a few bags, but given his lack of power, he'll need to develop his on-base and contact skills to stick at the big league level.
