2009
A switch-hitting second baseman, Ford finished with a batting line of .285/.338/.458 while playing through hip and ankle problems for Double-A Altoona in 2008. The Pirates thought enough of the 24-year-old to give him a look in the Arizona Fall League, where Ford hit .294 with three homers and 11 RBI. He's a bit old for Double-A but the organization really only has Freddy Sanchez ahead of him in terms of everyday players. Injuries could force the Bucs to see what they've got in Ford at the major-league level in 2009.
