2009
Muniz bounced between Triple-A New Orleans and the Mets last season, seeing time in New York due to injuries in the bullpen. After a strong start in both locations, he struggled mightily in each as he needs to be just right since his stuff - low-90's fastball, sinker, slider and changeup - is not overpowering. Look for him to open 2009 at Triple-A Buffalo and possibly get a callup during the year.
2008
Muniz posted 23 saves along with a tidy 2.45 ERA, 1.023 WHIP and 62 strikeouts in 58.7 innings for Double-A Binghamton before seeing a cup of coffee with Triple-A New Orleans. He possesses a low-90's fastball, sinker, slider and changeup, and with the Mets desperate for a fresh arm out of the pen, he was added to the 40-man roster and called up in September. Muniz will compete for a bullpen job in spring training and his ability to make the team may depend on the health of both Juan Padilla and Duaner Sanchez.
