RotoWire's Preseason Outlooks

2014

There was no outlook written for Colt Morton.

2008

Morton is San Diego's most advanced catching prospect. He's a marginal prospect, though, as a 25-year-old with only one career at-bat above Double-A. He has good physical tools (6-5, 230 pounds) and has shown some power, but strikes out in about one-third of his at-bats. Morton hasn't done much to suggest that he will progress past Triple-A in 2008.

2007

Morton is a marginal prospect, especially given San Diego's major league depth at catcher. Surprisingly, he hit significantly better in Double-A (.266, 139 AB) than High-A (.227, 176 AB) in 2006. There is a good chance that he’ll spend 2007 at Triple-A, but his major league future looks to be as a backup at best.
