RotoWire's Preseason Outlooks

2014

There was no outlook written for Jay Marshall.

2010

Marshall spent most of the 2009 season at Triple-A Sacramento, and he's yet to have any modicum of success in the majors after being a Rule 5 pick prior to the 2007 season. His ability to miss bats has been a limiting factor when he's reached the bigs. The A's have good depth in the bullpen, including several superior options from the left side, so Marshall will likely spend most of the year in the minors again.

2008

Marshall stuck with the A's all year despite some struggles as he was a Rule 5 pick and would have been lost on waivers otherwise. The A's thought enough of him to claim him back on waivers this winter after the Red Sox briefly scooped him up. He'll likely spend the entire year at Triple-A Sacramento, pitching regularly and getting back his prospect status.
