RotoWire's Preseason Outlooks

2013

There was no outlook written for Brian Bocock.

2011

The Phillies picked up Bocock last offseason to provide middle infield depth in the minors. Bocock spent the majority of the year in the minors but did have two short stints with the Phillies where he accumulated only five at-bats. Bocock does not do much with the bat, but he has managed to hang around due to his solid work with the glove. He shouldn't find himself in the majors this year unless he is needed as an injury fill-in.

2010

After 77 major league at-bats in 2008, Bocock never received a single at-bat with the Giants last season, struggling in both Single- and Double-A. He’s already 25 entering the 2010 season, so Bocock looks like a long shot to be much of a contributor at the major league level.

2009

Bocock hit just .143 over 77 at-bats last year, as he was clearly over his head after becoming the team’s starting shortstop for a brief period. He may have a future in a utility role, but the Giants have plenty of better middle infield options ahead of him, so he’ll spend most of 2009 in the minors once again.
