2008
Cassel is essentially a Quadruple-A pitcher. He turned in a decent 2007 season, most of it at Triple-A Portland. Cassel isn't overpowering and allows a lot of contact (1.564 WHIP in 156.2 Triple-A innings last year). He dodged serious damage (3.91 ERA) in large part because his K:BB ratio (117:42) at Triple-A wasn't bad. There is a good chance that Cassel will shuttle between Triple-A and the majors in 2008, but it will be within the Houston organization instead of San Diego.
