2012
Brown had a subpar first year in the Nationals organization after being acquired last winter for Josh Willingham. His .322 wOBA was disappointing in his first full Triple-A season, and his propensity to strike out is a significant concern (29 percent rate). He appeared in three games with the Nationals as a September callup, but a staph infection in his right knee caused him to miss the rest of the season. He is expected to be ready for spring training and begin the season in Syracuse.
2010
Brown was limited to just 66 games at Double-A Midland due to injury, and he continued his career-long trend of good power (20 doubles, nine homers in 250 at-bats), but also too many strikeouts (27:69 BB:K). He had an impressive AFL campaign (.333/.397/.619 in 105 at-bats), but he didn't curb the strikeouts (11:29 BB:K). He's 24 and comes from a good college program, but Brown hasn't mastered Double-A yet so his future appears pretty limited. He has all the looks of a player who is going to struggle as he advances, with a Jeromy Burnitz-type career for a ceiling.
