Parris was released by the Devil Rays before Wednesday night's game against the Yankees.
ANALYSIS
Parris was 0-3 with a 6.18 ERA in 10 games, including seven starts. He was replaced on the roster by Brandon Backe. Parris told the media that his shoulder just hadn't gotten strong enough after surgery last year, and he indicated that he would take the rest of the season off and try to hook up somewhere before spring training.

Recovering from rotator cuff surgery, was eventually shut down in September 2002 with a dead arm. In between, he struggled in 14 starts for Toronto. Caught on as an NRI with Tampa Bay and made the rotation to start the season; we'll see how long it lasts.
