DaVanon battled shoulder problems for much of the 2007 season. He's been a productive bench option in the past since he has speed and decent plate discipline and could find playing time in the outfield in San Diego behind aging veterans Jim Edmonds and Brian Giles.

DaVanon bounced back from his worst season to once again be an excellent fourth outfielder. Fantasy players love the double-digit steals and good BA in a low-cost package.

At publication time DaVanon was still a free agent. Look for him to show up somewhere as a non-roster invitee this spring. If he's able to find the right situation he could be a cheap source of steals.

DaVanon found a lot of ways to get into the lineup last season, putting in time all over the outfield, at DH and pinch-hitting. In the end, his numbers were carbon copies of 2003, indicating he seems to have found his level. He turns 32 in 2005, so he probably won't be getting much better, but could do the same again with similar time.

DaVanon had a breakout season last year, taking advantage of an injury to Darin Erstad to force his way into a full-time major league job and fairly regular playing-time role. DaVanon should see 350-400 at-bats in 2004 and put up numbers similar to last season's. With his speed and decent plate discipline, DaVanon could be a useful outfielder in deep AL leagues this season.

DaVanon was one of the last players to make the team out of spring training last season, but only saw action in 16 games, shuttling to and from Anaheim and Salt Lake City. That will be the case again in 2003.
