Hopper agreed to a minor league contract with the Brewers on Thursday, Mark Sheldon of MLB.com reports.
ANALYSIS
Hopper will have a tough time making the Brewers out of spring training, but he will at least give them some outfield depth in the minors if he does not make the final cut.

Hopper had his best chance to secure a starting outfield spot scuttled by an elbow injury that eventually required him to have Tommy John surgery. While he can be a useful spare part, he's really misplaced as an everyday player, in part because of his utter lack of power. Following the addition of Willy Taveras in December, Hopper will likely work as the Reds' fourth outfielder.
After injuries to Ryan Freel and Josh Hamilton, Hopper was pressed into regular duty for the Reds and held his own. Power isn't part of his skill set, but he makes good contact, hits for average and can run a little. The danger for him is if he runs into a stretch of bad luck and doesn't hit for average - his lack of power or walks limits his upside offensively. The Reds' trade of Josh Hamilton opens up the door to the starting center field job for Hopper just a crack - it's more likely that Jay Bruce is the long-term solution there.
Hopper can hit for average and run quite a bit, but is going to be 28 before the season starts and can't slug his way out of a paper bag. He's useful to a major league club as a fifth outfielder, but if pressed into regular duty, he won't help that much. Unless he works into a regular job, and thus has more chances to use his speed, you can safely ignore him.
