Rabelo has been given his unconditional release by the Tigers, the team's official site reports.
ANALYSIS
Just an FYI if you're tracking him on their depth chart. The Tigers had three catchers ahead of him in the pecking order for big league at-bats anyway, so Rabelo has a better chance of becoming a backup option elsewhere.

Past Fantasy Outlooks

Rabelo couldn't get his bat going at all in 2008, either in the majors or at hitter-friendly Triple-A Albuquerque, but by hiding on the 60-day DL at the end of the season he finds himself as the last man standing in the non-battle to back up John Baker this year. Although the sample size is tiny his numbers over the last two seasons have been better against lefties than righties so the switch-hitter could be a good fit for that role, but it won't provide much in the way of fantasy value.
Rabelo did a serviceable job taking over backup catching duties last season after the Tigers lost Vance Wilson to injury. He didn't do much with the bat, however, so little was expected of him when Detroit dealt him to Florida in the Miguel Cabrera deal. He’ll get an opportunity to win the starting job with the Marlins, but nothing in his past indicates that he’ll make much of a contribution with the bat.
Rabelo received one major league at-bat during his September call-up last season and that might be the only at-bat he ever receives in the majors. The 27-year-old will start the year at Triple-A where he will provide the club with some catching depth.
