Rest-of-Season Projections
McGeary, who is recovering from Tommy John surgery, has finally earned his degree from Stanford, the Washington Post reports.
ANALYSIS
His prospect status has dropped off the map following a rough couple of seasons, but now that his focus will be on baseball full-time he may yet get back on track. A normal 12-month recovery time would put him back on the mound sometime this summer, so he should have 3-4 months to prove he still has some upside.

2009 Fantasy Outlook
McGeary, drafted in the sixth round and signed away from a commitment to Stanford, looked like a pitcher with first-round talent in his pro debut, as he posted a 64:13 K:BB ratio in 12 GCL starts. He's a long way from the majors, but he's a potential top-of-the-rotation lefty with three plus pitches, although right now his fastball barely touches 90 mph and his changeup needs work. Nab him now and stash him away in your minor league system before he blossoms.
