Paul Maholm v St. Louis - There are lots of “hot” pitchers available to start Tuesday, but Maholm may be one of the lesser-owned options. As long as Maholm can side-step Albert Pujols (career 1.515 OPS), then he should have no problem handling the rest of the lineup. The remaining 17 bats only have three home runs in collective 179 at-bats, and only Randy Winn owns a batting average above .238. Maholm held them to two runs in 6.2 innings in his last start against them, and he should post a quality outing even if he doesn't emerge with a W.

Bradley Bergesen v Boston – Bergesen had one of his better starts of the season in a July 2 at Boston (seven K's, no walks in 7.2 innings), but his September 2 start against them went a bit less smooth (eight hits, five walks in 5.1 innings). He has lost three of his five career starts against them, and four Red Sox batters have OPS's on the wrong side of 1.000 off him (J.D Drew, Adrian Beltre, Mike Lowell and Ryan Kalish). There are plenty of better options to roll with Tuesday.

Recommended Pickup

Andy Pettitte, P, NY-A - Pettitte may have been dropped in some formats because of his lengthy stay on the DL, but he proved his worth and health in six innings against the Orioles on Sunday. He won 11 of his 18 starts prior to going on the DL and held opposing batters to a .234 BAA and 87:35 K:BB. The Yankees will probably give him a full complement of starts over the last two weeks of the season to ensure his health for the postseason, and there's a good chance those starts turn into wins.

Other recent recommendations: Nate McLouth, Russell Branyan, Jhoulys Chacin, Carlos Beltran, Ike Davis
