Closer Watch - A closer look at intriguing ninth-inning situations (also check out our Closer Grid)

Baltimore – One day after Kevin Gregg allowed four unearned runs, he gave up a double but retired three other Angels without any damage Saturday.

Philadelphia – Ryan Madson closed out Saturday's game while Antonio Bastardo picked up Sunday's save. He may have gotten the chance because Madson had pitched two days in a row.

Tampa Bay – Kyle Farnsworth is in no danger of losing his job after blowing a one-run save opportunity Saturday.

Toronto – The Blue Jays went to Marc Rzepczynski start the ninth inning with a one-run lead in Saturday's game. He did not retire a batter and put two runners on. Those two runners – the tying run and the winning run – crossed the plate on Jon Rauch's watch. Rauch retired two batters but walked one and gave up the game-winning hit.

Recommended Pickup

Josh Reddick, OF, BOS – Reddick has received everyday at-bats since the All-Star break, a trend that should continue with J.D. Drew likely headed for the DL Monday. Now is the time to make a move on Reddick, who added to his .356/.408/.622 line with a 2-for-5 day Sunday. The Red Sox are not batting him in a premium position in the lineup, but that has not stopped Reddick from producing. Give him a shot if you are in need of some outfield help.

Other recent recommendations:Desmond Jennings, Edward Mujica, Cameron Maybin, Travis Snider, Jose Altuve, Joe Nathan
