Sergio Mitre, P, NYY – (Shoulder) MRI showed nerve damage but no structural damage, still unlikely to pitch this season.
Michael Wuertz, P, OAK – (Thumb) Placed on DL Saturday.

NL
Mitch Stetter, P, MIL – (Hip) Transferred to 60-day but has already missed that much time.

Closer Watch - A closer look at intriguing ninth-inning situations (check out our Closer Grid with the link to the left).

Baltimore – Koji Uehara always felt like a blown save or two away from the closer’s job with the Orioles until he was traded to the Rangers on Saturday afternoon. That helps Kevin Gregg further cement his job, even with how poorly he has pitched this season, while Uehara has seemingly no chance of seeing save opportunities with Texas as long as Neftali Feliz is healthy.

Toronto – Jon Rauch appears to be cementing his grasp on the job in Toronto even though he has been mentioned in trade rumors and he has been very shaky in getting the job done. He allowed a solo home run – his second in two outings – and another hit in one inning to close the door on the Rangers on Friday night.

Recommended Pickup

Charlie Furbush, P, SEA – Traded from the Tigers to the Mariners on Saturday, Furbush should get a chance to pitch in Seattle’s rotation. And when a pitcher gains the opportunity to pitch half his games in a pitching friendly environment such as Safeco Field, that’s a good thing. Furbush has been used mostly out of the bullpen for the Tigers this season, but his minor league numbers show a solid K:BB ratios, including a 61:16 in 54 Triple-A innings this season. He is an excellent buy-low candidate for the remainder of the season and next year.

Other Recent Recommendations: Dexter Fowler, Hideki Matsui, Conor Jackson, Javy Guerra, Pedro Alvarez, Josh Reddick.
