Closer Watch
Giants: San Francisco manager Bruce Bochy has said that the team will now be going with a full-on "closer by committee" approach. Santiago Casilla stumbled some in July with four blown saves and a 6.23 ERA. However, he held opponents scoreless in six of his last seven appearances. For now, it is expected that Casilla, Sergio Romo, and Jeremy Affeldt will all see save opportunities. The latter two may be more likely in the near future as Casilla appears to also be suffering from blisters on his hand.

Recommended Pickup
Jean Segura, SS, MIL: As of Monday afternoon, there are just eight qualified shortstops with a .700 OPS or better and just one qualified shortstop above an .800 OPS. Injuries and ineffectiveness have devastated this position and, for the most part, it has been a wasteland in fantasy baseball. Jean Segura very well could be an improvement at shortstop for many teams.

Segura, the main prize for the Brewers in the Zack Greinke trade, has hit .433/500/.533 in eight games for Double-A Huntsville since his arrival in the organization. Overall on the season, he has hit .304/.358/.413 in 452 Double-A plate appearances. The 22-year-old certainly has power potential, though he has not yet realized it in the minors. In addition, he has very good speed despite a stocky build, with 37 stolen bases this season and a career high of 50 stolen bases set back in 2010. The Brewers have been more free with their base running recently, and Segura could see a lot of stolen base attempts.

Segura could help teams with steals, average, and runs and could possibly throw in a few home runs as well. My only caution would be to remember that he is moving up from Double-A and has never played in Triple-A so he could come out of the gates a bit slow. Still, it"s a near certainty that the Brewers will let him play out the year at shortstop, and he could end up being very valuable at a very weak fantasy position.

Other Recent Recommendations: Brett Jackson, Josh Vitters, Ryan Ludwick, Dan Straily, Josh Rutledge, Carlos Gomez
