Closer Watch

Blue Jays - Sergio Santos entered Fridayís game in the eighth inning with one out and a four run lead. After getting a double play on his first pitch Santos was given the opportunity to come back in the ninth where he gave up a run, but still earned his first save of the season. Santos has been effective out of the Blue Jays pen, but it hasnít been in the closer role where Casey Janssen has 34 saves, including 16 in a row.

Yankees - David Robertson converted his third save of the season Friday in place of Mariano Rivera who has been shut down for the season after his last appearance at Yankee Stadium. Robertson is best candidate on the current Yankees roster to be the closer for 2014, so teams in keeper leagues may consider picking him up for next year.

Recommended Pickup

Jose Quintana, P, CWS - In his last three starts Quintana has two wins, three earned runs, and a 17:5 strikeout:walk ratio over 20.1 innings. Quintana has been above average this season for a White Sox side that has been one of the worst in the bigs, and he will end the season with nine wins, six loses, a 3.45 ERA, 1.22 WHIP, 160 strikeouts over 193 innings pitched. With it being the last day of the season Quintana can give fantasy owners a chance to get a couple more strikeouts and even a win against a Royals team that is out of the wild card race. Quintana is available in more leagues than not, so if your team can afford to give him a spot start he is definitely worth a look.

Other Recent Recommendations: Marco Estrada, Tommy Medica, Michael Saunders, Matt Davidson, and Tyler Thornburg
