Closer Watch

Red Sox – Boston apparently plans to rest both Koji Uehara and the much-used Junichi Tazawa down the stretch, which could mean some save chances come Edward Mujica's way. Now's the time to look into his availability – before he nabs a save and sends everyone scrambling to add him.

Rockies – LaTroy Hawkins got saddled with a blown save – just his second of the year – Monday against the Giants, but ended up with a win thanks to Charlie Blackmon's walk-off heroics. With Rex Brothers having an awful year and Adam Ottavino no man's closer, Hawkins actually has decent job security for the remainder of the season. He's put up solid rate stats (strikeouts aside), too.

Giants – Although Sergio Romo and Santiago Casilla are supposed to be splitting save chances now, nothing's come Romo's way yet except for Monday's loss against the Rockies, as he was the one victimized by Blackmon's hit. Romo hasn't appeared in a save situation since Aug. 16.

Recommended Pickup
Dilson Herrera, 2B, NYM – When Daniel Murphy went on the DL, the Mets surprised the baseball world by recalling Herrera directly from Double-A. Acquired last year from the Pirates in the Marlon Byrd deal, Herrera's hit .323/.379/.479 with 13 homers and 23 steals across High-A and Double-A this year, with the majority of his power contributions coming after his promotion. And after starting his MLB career off with three rather quiet games, Herrera broke out with a homer and a two-run triple Monday in Miami. Even though he made a pair of errors Monday, Herrera should see basically all the action at second while Murphy's out.

Other Recent Recommendations: Jordan Schafer, Wade Davis, Russell Martin, Drew Smyly, Eric O'Flaherty
