Pitchers
Carlos Martinez, $8,400 - It's tempting to go with Tyson Ross ($8,300) on the road at pitcher-friendly AT&T Field but Martinez is home and has a nice matchup. The Cubs have a nice, young lineup with upside but they can also strike out a lot. Martinez has put up at least 11 fantasy points in each of his last four outings and has his home ballpark working in his favor. The elite options - Clayton Kershaw, Madison Bumgarner and Felix Hernandez - are either $2,500 more or have a bad lefty vs. righty matchup facing them.
Catcher
Evan Gattis, $3,400 - If you go with one of the pitchers already mentioned, it'll open up space to roster Gattis who is not only one of the hottest catchers in the game but one of the hottest hitters overall. Gattis' last three games have seen him score 7.5, 7 and 14.5 fantasy points and he get another lefty at home today. While he may not get into the double-digits, don't be surprised if he has a nice positive point day if they decide to pitch to him.
First Base
Freddie Freeman, $3,400 - Freeman is a player who should be priced at least $4,000 and is a steal at his current price tag. He gets a nice matchup today against Aaron Harang and is on the positive end of a lefty vs a righty pitcher. Freeman has had positive fantasy point totals in seven of his last eight games. Don't be surprised if the cleanup hitter has a big game against the aging veteran.
Second Base
Brian Dozier, $3,100 - The Dozier train struggled coming out of the gate this season but his recent play suggests last season was no fluke. He draws a nice home matchup against Jesse Hahn and is coming off a 4-for-5 day Sunday with a triple, walk, RBI and run. He's hit safely in five of his last six games and is always a threat to run on the basepaths.
Third Base
Adrian Beltre, $2,900 - He's off to a slow start and maybe Father Time has caught up to him. Still, Beltre is hitting in a nice hitter's park being Minute Maid Field that has played well to right-handed hitters and he gets the favorable lefty/righty split. Short of a sharp decline, Beltre is still a top-5 third baseman and is priced as the 14th spot for his position, unless you trust Luis Valbuena ($3,000) more.
Shortstop
Ian Desmond, $2,800 - He's home and the price is way, way too low. Desmond offers the opportunity for not only a stolen base but a home run as well. Inexplicably he's been hitting down in the order and should be hitting much higher. Luckily in fantasy we don't have to worry about shoddy defense and Desmond is still an elite option going forward despite a slow start to the season.
Outfield
Mark Trumbo, $4,100 - Granted, this price is not ideal. However, he's tied for the 10th highest price among outfielders and should be able to make this value and then some. He gets a premier matchup facing a lefty in Tyler Matzek and gets him in one of the best hitter's ballparks in Coor's Field. Considering fellow teammate Paul GoldSchmidt is priced at $6100, Trumbo appears to be a bargain.
Carlos Gonzalez, $3,600 - You'd have to go back to April 25th to see a big day from CarGo, the last time he went yard. He gets Josh Collmenter in the friendly confines of Coors Field and has a good chance of putting up a big fantasy day. This appears to be a case of the stars aligning with Gonzalez at home and has a track record of 5-for-15 against Josh Collmenter including two home runs. Plug him in and take advantage of the discounted price.
Billy Burns, $2,300 - Using some of the mid-to-higher priced options today will have you looking for a nice, cheap play. Burns fits the bill as he's hit leadoff for Oakland in each of the last two games since getting called up. He's got a nice matchup against an injured Phil Hughes and in a small sample since getting called up he's reached base four of his 10 plate appearances. He stole 57 bases last season among three professional levels and the hope is he gets on base and shows his speed.
