FanDuel MLB: Tuesday Value Plays

FanDuel MLB: Tuesday Value Plays

This article is part of our FanDuel MLB series.

PITCHER

Jon Lester, CHC at LAA ($10,700): With just one pitcher slot, there'slittle incentive not to spend up on quality. Lester is the best strikeout pitcher on the slate with a K% of 25 percent over his last two seasons. Some would be concerned about how righty-heavy the Angels' lineup is, but (outside of that Trout fellah) these are weak righties who had an 88 wRC+ against lefties last season that ranked 24th in the MLB.

CATCHER

Welington Castillo, ARI vs. COL ($2,600): A .237 AVG last season is concerning on the surface, but a .216 ISO and .321 wOBA despite low .263 BABIP (career BABIP .308) indicates a probably recovery in that AVG on the season. In fact, if Castillo can maintain those power numbers and have variance on his side from a BABIP department, it could be quite the year for the catcher. Arizona has the highest Vegas total at their friendly home confines against likely the worst pitcher of the night in Chad Bettis -- it's worth noting, despite being right-handed, Bettis has historically has allowed bigger power numbers against righties than lefties.

FIRST BASE

Paul Goldschmidt, ARI vs. COL ($4,800): Goldschmidt paired a .418 wOBA with triple-digit runs and RBIs and 21 steals last season, that's elite level all-around production. As stated with Castillo, the D-Backs have the highest run total and a stack of the middle of their order projects to pay nice dividends.

SECOND BASE

Jed Lowrie, OAK vs. CWS ($2,300): Southpaw Jose Quintana on the mound means we'll get Lowrie on the right side of the plate. Despite being a switch hitter, Lowrie has been far better from over his career from the right side of the plate with a .344 wOBA (30 points higher than his number from the left side). After an injury shortened 2015 season, Lowrie has returned to Oakland to play second base with a strong hold on the second spot in the order.

THIRD BASE

Jake Lamb, ARI vs. COL ($2,200): Lamb's price is hard to overlook in a plus-matchup against a right-hander with a career xFIP at nearly 4.5. Lamb is short on major league experience, but batting fifth on a team that's -130 in a game with an over/under at nine runs makes him well worth the $2,200 price.

SHORTSTOP

Ketel Marte, SEA at TEX ($2,600): Marte doesn't posses much power, but he's maintained a very good OBP switch hitting while stealing 28 bases across Triple-A and the Mariners last season. The shortstop will bat second and plays favorably in a mini-stack batting ahead of right-handed slugger Nelson Cruz.

OUTFIELD

David Peralta, ARI v. COL ($3,300): Peralta bats just behind the duo of Goldschmidt and Castillo and last season had a .392 wOBA and .232 ISO against right-handed pitching.

Nelson Cruz, SEA at TEX ($4,000):
Cruz has surpassed a .400 wOBA against lefties in five of his last six seasons. Martin Perez is mediocre lefty who has struggled mightily against righties with a 4.30 career xFIP split.

Mitch Moreland, TEX vs. SEA ($2,700):
Iwakuma is a solid pitcher, but struggles in preventing the long ball. Moreland carried a .234 ISO and .372 wOBA against right-handed pitching last season. The over/under in this game has now climbed to nine at the hitter-friendly surroundings in Arlington.
