FanDuel MLB: Saturday Value Plays

This article is part of our FanDuel MLB series.

PITCHER

Jered Weaver, LAA at MIN ($7,200): The Twins present an ideal combination for opposing pitchers, scoring the fewest runs per game in the MLB at 1.90 while narrowly trailing Toronto for the lead in strikeouts per game at 10.10. Weaver looked good in limiting the much more dangerous Rangers offense to one run over six innings in his season debut, and he's available on the cheap after a disappointing 2015 campaign. Take advantage of this cushy matchup and use this opportunity to get some big bats in your lineup without feeling uncomfortable at the pitcher spot.

CATCHER

Miguel Montero, CHC vs. COL ($3,000): Montero only plays against right-handed pitchers, but his .393 wOBA against them in the early going suggests he deserves strong consideration whenever the Cubs face one. Rockies pitcher Christian Bergman owns a 5.43 career ERA and will be making his first start of the season after working out of the bullpen, so Montero should get some at-bats with ducks on the pond.

FIRST BASE

Chris Davis, BAL at TEX ($4,200): Davis' power bat is perfect for playing in the hitter-friendly Globe Life Park in Arlington, and facing veteran righty Colby Lewis further enhances his chances of going yard. Lewis is susceptible to the long ball while Davis, the former Ranger, belted 37 homers against right-handed pitching en route to a .410 wOBA in 2015.

SECOND BASE

Rougned Odor, TEX vs. BAL ($3,300): The over/under of 9.0 suggests this game should feature some offensive fireworks, and Odor is likely to get in on that action against former teammate Yovani Gallardo. Gallardo was markedly worse at home than on the road as a member of the Rangers last year, and he will likely struggle even more in Arlington as a visitor. Meanwhile, Odor will have his favorable platoon split and is swinging a hot bat after going 3-for-8 with a pair of doubles in the first two games of this series.

THIRD BASE

Evan Longoria, TB vs.CWS ($3,000): Longoria has always mashed lefties, and he gets to faces a sub-par one in John Danks. The third baseman owns a .384 career wOBA against southpaws, while Danks basically turned every right-handed batter he faced into Longoria by surrendering a .353 wOBA to that side last season. Especially given his affordability, Tampa Bay's three-hole hitter is tough to pass up.

SHORTSTOP

Jimmy Rollins, CWS at TB ($2,600): The switch-hitting Rollins has been slightly more effective from the left side throughout his career, and that is where he'll bat against Tampa righty Erasmo Ramirez. Ramirez owns a career 4.21 ERA and has been slaughtered by lefties in a small sample size early this season, so the discount shortstop should be in line for a nice game against him batting second in the order.

OUTFIELD

Nelson Cruz, SEA at NYY ($4,200): Cruz pummeled left-handed pitching to the tune of a .459 wOBA last season, so his upside at hitter-friendly Yankee Stadium against CC Sabathia is astronomical. The once-dominant veteran pitcher gave up a .370 wOBA to right-handed batters in 2015, and Cruz is as dangerous as anyone from that side of the plate.

Josh Reddick, OAK vs. KAN ($3,100): Reddick's place as Oakland's three-hole hitter is well-deserved considering his .432 wOBA against right-handed pitching so far this season on the heels of a .356 mark in 2015. He has a plus matchup against Royals starter Chris Young, who has looked awful in dropping his first two decisions of 2016.

Jose Bautista, TOR at BOS ($4,400): Many owners will be scared off when they see David Price as the starting pitcher for this game, but Bautista has actually enjoyed tremendous success against the ace. While Joey Bats' .382 career wOBA against lefties is impressive, it pales in comparison to his numbers against Price. In a reasonably large 56-plate appearance sample size, Bautista is 16-for-49 with five home runs and seven walks.
