DraftKings MLB: Wednesday Picks

DraftKings MLB: Wednesday Picks

This article is part of our DraftKings MLB series.

PITCHER

John Lackey, CHC vs. SD ($11,100): Lackey has racked up two 11-strikeout performances in his last four games, which makes him an interesting play against the Padres because they strike out at the third-highest rate against right-handed pitchers. Lackey has been a bit inconsistent with his punchouts from start-to-start, but is sporting the highest swinging strike rate of his career (12.6 percent).

Jerad Eickhoff, PHI at ATL ($8,000): The Braves are the worst team in the league against both sides of the platoon. Eickhoff could see an additional advantage, as Atlanta is also a bottom-10 team when it comes to runs above average against the curveball, a pitch he throws more than 30 percent of the time.

CATCHER

Yadier Molina, STL at LAA ($3,200): Opposing starter Matt Shoemaker will be one of the primary stack targets for the late slate, as he tallied a 10 percent walk rate and allowed six home runs in 20.2 innings before being sent to Triple-A Salt Lake to begin the month. Molina could benefit from Shoemaker's fly-ball tendencies, having notched a 52 percent ground-ball rate over 110 at-bats.

FIRST BASE

Justin Bour, MIA vs. MIL ($3,400):Chase Anderson has allowed homers to righties and lefties this year, but he has completely lost his command versus southpaws, surrendering eight free passes in just 12 innings. Bour is always a threat to leave the yard against righties, as he has four home runs and a .218 ISO against his opposite hand over 78 at-bats.

SECOND BASE

Sean Rodriguez, PIT at CIN ($3,200):Alfredo Simon reeled off a solid outing against the Brewers last week, but he is still sporting an ERA approaching 10.00 in six games (five starts) this season. Rodriguez continues to hit well, and he has a .655 slugging percentage against right-handers.

THIRD BASE

Derek Dietrich, MIA vs. MIL ($3,400): Dietrich has been hammering all comers since being thrust into regular playing time, posting a .603 slugging percentage over 63 at-bats. Dietrich has a chance to perform well in the matchup against Anderson, as he ranks nearly four runs above average against the changeup in his career.

SHORTSTOP

Xander Bogaerts, BOS vs. OAK ($4,900):Eric Surkamp created a world of trouble for himself prior to being sent to the minor leagues late last month, walking more batters than he struck out en route to a 5.59 ERA. Bogaerts has set lefties ablaze in the early going, notching a .667 slugging percentage over 15 at-bats.

OUTFIELD

Ryan Braun, MIL at MIA ($4,800): Braun continues to roll back the clock, slashing .363/.424/.611 with seven home runs over 113 at-bats this year. Wei-Yin Chen has just a 16 percent strikeout rate against his opposite hand in 32 innings this season while allowing five home runs over that span.

Mike Trout, LAA vs. STL ($4,600):Jaime Garcia has pitched well this season but is still walking right-handed batters at a nearly 12 percent clip. Trout will have the patience to wait out Garcia if he remains wild, as he has notched a 13 percent walk rate in 133 plate appearances.

Jay Bruce, CIN vs. PIT ($3,400):Juan Nicasio has struggled on the road this season, allowing six earned runs in eight innings (two starts). He is also surrendering home runs to lefties at a rate of nearly 2.00/9. Bruce has continued to mash righties in 2016, logging an ISO of .259 in 27 games.

Other options: Odubel Herrera, PHI at ATL ($3,600) Stephen Piscotty, STL at LAA ($4,200) Marcell Ozuna, MIA vs. MIL ($3,900)
