PITCHER
Kenta Maeda, LAD at SD ($10,600): Maeda may have lost some fans in the fantasy community over the last two starts, making him a particularly appealing tournament option versus a Padres squad that struggles mightily against right-handers. San Diego's .272 wOBA versus righties is the lowest in the majors, while their 25.2 percent strikeout rate against that handedness is the fourth-highest. Their .226 team batting average is also the worst in baseball, and Maeda already shut out the Padres over six innings in his first major league start back on Apr. 6.
Jerad Eickhoff, PHI vs. ATL ($7,200): Eickhoff is more of a tournament option than a cash game play, despite his matchup against a Braves squad that ranks only behind the Padres for the lowest wOBA (.286) in the majors against right-handed pitching. Atlanta continues to lag behind the rest of the majors in homers, with their 18 a full 13 behind the next closest club, Eickhoff's Phillies. Eickhoff has admittedly had a rough go of it at times this season, but he has pitched nowhere near as badly as his 1-6 record would imply. He's actually turned in quality starts in five of his eight trips to the mound and has received a meager eight runs of support combined over five of his defeats. He also brings along plenty of strikeout potential, having whiffed nine batters twice this season, and seven on another occasion.
CATCHER
Wilson Ramos, WAS at MIA ($3,300): Ramos has proven to be particularly solid cash game play this season, slashing .339/.372/.513. He draws a matchup against Adam Conley, off whom he's hit .333 (2-for-6) over his career, with both hits solo homers. Ramos also owns a .328 wOBA and 38.1 percent hard contact rate versus righties this season, and he is one of the most viable options for offense at the catcher position.
FIRST BASE
Edwin Encarnacion, TOR at MIN ($4,700): Encarnacion has slashed .357/.417/.548 over 42 career at-bats against opposing starting Phil Hughes, with five doubles, a homer, six RBI and five walks. He's hit seven of his nine homers this season off right-handed pitching and owns a .359 wOBA against righties in his career. Right-handed hitters have tallied a .316 wOBA off Hughes this season, and he's surrendered six of his seven homers and a 39.2 percent hard contact rate to them as well.
SECOND BASE
Robinson Cano, SEA at CIN ($5,300): Cano reunites with old friend Alfredo Simon, whom he's punished to the tune of a .417/.462/.667 line over 12 at-bats, with a solo home run and a walk. He's tormented right-handed pitching in general this season, compiling a .439 wOBA, 40.2 percent hard contact rate, and 22.5 percent HR/FB rate. Simon's work against left-handed bats has been nightmare as well, as he's yielded a .506 wOBA, five homers and a 39.1 percent hard contact rate. A lot of his problems have come at Great American Ballpark, where's he's surrendered a .462 wOBA and three of those five homers to lefty hitters.
THIRD BASE
Yunel Escobar, LAA vs. BAL ($3,300): Escobar gets a crack at Ubaldo Jimenez, who he has managed a .348/.464/.522 line against over 23 at-bats, with a double, homer, two RBI and five walks. Jimenez is yielding a .332 wOBA to right-handed hitters and his considerable control problems have produced a robust 1.76 WHIP that could certainly help facilitate some fantasy production for Escobar.
SHORTSTOP
Manny Machado, BAL at LAA ($5,100): It's never a bad idea to load up on power hitters versus Angels starter Jered Weaver, whose fastball travels at a snail's pace. Machado is enjoying an outstanding campaign, hitting both for average and plenty of power. He's blasted 11 of his 12 homers off right-handers and has a .440 wOBA, .347 ISO, 26.2 HR/FB rate and 40.6 percent hard contact rate against them as well. Weaver has yielded a .387 wOBA and 41.1 percent hard contact rate to right-handed hitters this season, putting him squarely in Machado's crosshairs.
OUTFIELD
Mark Trumbo, BAL at LAA ($4,400): Trumbo also gets a chance to tee off against Weaver, whose already-suspect velocity is at a new low this season. The offseason acquisition has swung a hot bat throughout his first season in Baltimore, and he has provided a glimpse at his ceiling in recent games with fantasy point totals of 14, 16, 19 and 30 in four of his last 10. He's also posted a .418 wOBA and 38.8 percent hard contact rate versus right-handed pitching. Meanwhile, opposing batters have been making contact over 93 percent of the time on Weaver's low 80s fastball, while posting a .409 wOBA and massive .341 ISO.
Paulo Orlando, KC at CWS ($2,600): Orlando checks in as a bargain at his current price, considering he's slashing .368/.390/.509 on the season. He provides a nice ceiling as well, having scored 17 and 33 fantasy points in two of his last four games. He draws a nice matchup against lefty Carlos Rodon, as Orlando has managed a .446 wOBA over 21 plate appearances versus southpaws this season, and a .328 wOBA in a 123-plate appearance sample in his young career. Right-handed bats haven't been kind to Rodon this season, as he's given up a .357 wOBA and seven of his eight homers to that handedness.
Adam Duvall, CIN vs. SEA ($3,500): Duvall has a .304 average and .360 wOBA versus lefties this season, with the wOBA rising to .435 at Great American Ballpark. Wade Miley has given up seven of his eight homers on the season to right-handed bats, along with a .325 wOBA. He's had his share of struggles on the road and will have to try to navigate a Reds lineup that hits lefties well in a hitter's park.
